Coloured mascaras have been on and off trend for years, and they’re back again this winter, with super bright colours popping up at Stella McCartney and Dior Couture. You can create some really stunning, knock-out looks with them, but they’re not for every day, so it seems silly to break the bank on a whole set of colours you may only use a couple of times each before they dry up and you have to chuck them out. So I thought I’d share a top makeup artist’s tip with you today - how to make your own coloured mascaras using whatever colours you already have in your make up bag.

Using eye shadows or loose pigments: apply clear mascara to your lashes (you can find these in your local chemists for next to nothing). Use my BROW FILLER BRUSH to pick up your chosen colour and while your lashes are still wet with mascara, work the brush along lashes. This brush is perfect as it has got stiff bristles that can get really close to the lash line. Don’t forget to sweep away any colour that might drop off the brush under your eyes.
Using eyeliners: very carefully without burning yourself or melting the liner heat your kohl eyeliner with a lighter to soften the tip and then run the colour along my BROW GROOMER BRUSH. Use the brush like a mascara wand – you may need a few coats to build up a really fabulous colour. Since there isn’t any mascara involved here, you must curl your eyelashes first to get a lovely shape.
